July 24, 2009 by Mark Anthony

The Boulder Dam Hotel has reopened after being closed on July 11 due to financial problems.
With the help of an anonymous donor who gave $260,000 to help revive the 76-year-old hotel, It reopened today. The Boulder City/Hoover Dam Museum, which documents the Boulder Canyon Project to build Hoover Dam, reopened on Tuesday.
According to Innkeeper Roger Shoaff, the donation should last about 18 months. He says the hotel board hopes to use some of the money to create a foundation, find donors and secure sponsorships for the hotel.
The Boulder Dam Hotel first opened in 1933, two years before completion of the Hoover Dam. The hotel originally was built to accommodate government officials checking in on dam construction as well as celebrities and other media types who wanted to be a part of the history making project.
